Lovely Valley Reforestation Project

Renew Appalachia's Lovely food forest project, planned for near Lovely, KY, is a afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation ("ARR") carbon project planned to restore post-mined land to a hardwood forest cover using techniques developed and proven by UK, WVU, and VT to be effective for restoration of forests on mine land. Starting with ~50 acres, the project hopes not only to restore hardwood forest with fruit and nut bearing trees, but also to raise awareness about the opportunities for post-mined lands in the region.
